Ayá Kakaw

Embracing Tradition and Transformation

Reflecting on this journey, I realise that I’ve always been surrounded by cacao. It's funny how life works that way, weaving connections and guiding us along a path we never could have foreseen. I’ve always had this innate belief in the power of synchronicity and the meaningfulness of every encounter. And my journey with cacao has only reinforced that belief.

My name is Mikaela, and I’ve spent 33 years on this beautiful planet. I am originally from Ecuador, and so is my whole family. Though I was born in Belgium and have roamed through 8 different countries, my roots are deeply intertwined with Ecuador. My parents, but especially my grandparents, have cultivated in me a deep sense of connection to the land, the traditions, and the stories that echo through generations.

As I envision the life I desire, I see myself surrounded by the lush green of nature, with avocado trees, lemon trees, and cacao plants flourishing around me, just as my childhood was when I lived in Ecuador.

I can still vividly recall the days of my youth, when my favorite plan was to spend time with my grandma, sipping on her homemade cacao. As I grew older, those cherished memories transformed into picnics in serene spots, carrying thermos filled with cacao. And even as the years passed and I was far from home, the warmth and comfort of my grandma’s presence remained in every cup of cacao I prepared.

As I grew older, I had one of the most enriching experiences of my life which was to live in Mexico. It was there that I had the opportunity to immerse myself in the rich culture of pre-Hispanic healing traditions and rituals. At the age of 24, I attended my first Cacao Ceremony. Little did I know that it would mark the beginning of a sacred and transformative journey with cacao.

In my quest for spiritual growth and healing, I've invested countless hours elevating my energy, honouring my ancestors, and embracing the depths of my spirituality. And now, I find myself humbled and deeply grateful for the opportunity to share the beauty and magic of cacao through heartfelt ceremonies.

If you've taken the time to read my story, I want to express my sincere gratitude. Thank you for allowing me to share a glimpse of my journey and for accompanying me with the sacred task of guiding others along their own paths of healing and heart expansion.

In closing, I want to leave you with the essence of what Ayá Kakaw means to me.

In the ancient language of the Aztecs, Mayas and Incas, Ayá Kakaw translates to "sacred cacao". It encapsulates the reverence, the magic, and the divine connection that cacao holds for me and for many others who have experienced its transformative power.

Ayá Kakaw is a symbol of the spiritual journey, the ancestral wisdom, and the deep-rooted traditions, capable of shaping lives. It represents the sacred bond between humanity and the cacao plant, a bond that carries within it the potential for healing, growth, and profound connection.

As I walk this path of ceremonial cacao, as I honor my heritage and share the medicine of cacao with others, I carry the essence of Ayá Kakaw within me. It serves as a beacon of light, guiding me on my journey of self-discovery, healing, and heart expansion.

Thank you for joining me on this sacred journey, for embracing the essence of Ayá Kakaw, and for allowing me to be a part of your path towards healing and transformation. Together, let us continue to nurture this ancient connection with cacao and be open to the magic and wisdom it has to offer.
